Friday 8 June 2001 – Singapore
I attended The first day of the inaugural Asian Arts Mart, organised by Geoff Street from the Esplanade Theatres. Caught up with Rowena Le Quesne from the High Commission as well as the usual suspects from Australian arts markets and some interesting people from around the world, most of whom were on their way to ISPAA in Sydney next week.
There were several showcases featuring regional performing arts groups, ranging from traditional Vietnamese folk music groups to very contemporary Thai theatre.
It was fascinating and quite invigorating, but by the end of the day I’d come down with a splitting headache, so wandered home for an early night.
